LB Waterfront Warriors Seeking Volunteers for
Wounded, Ill & Injured Solders Visit to LB in July

City Council Member John McLaughlin (l) and LBWW Co-chair Jerry Snell present the band, Badfellow, with Certificates of Recognition for money raised at a concert last year.

Hundreds of people from the local Long Beach community came out to support the Long Beach Waterfront Warriors first 2010 fundraiser at Lola's on May 3rd. Proceeds from the event will be used to support the second annual visit to our City by wounded, ill and injured soldiers and their families. Last year the LBWW;s organization helped give sixteen families a few days of rest and relaxation here in Long Beach, and this year they plan to host almost thirty families from July 25 through 29, 2010.City Council Member John McLaughlin, who spearheaded the project last year, was on hand to greet guests at Lola's, who each donated $50 for food, drink, entertainment and a chance to win raffle prizes.

Waterfront Warriors Thank the Patriotic Knitters for Donation Made at the Senior Day Celebration Luncheon

Waterfront Warriors and Patriotic Knitters at the Senior Day Celebration Luncheon

May 14, 2010 - Two members of the Long Beach Waterfront Warriors were on hand at the annual Senior Day Celebration Luncheon held at the Magnolia Senior Center on May 13.

Robin Lynch and Jerry Snell thanked the seniors for their contributions to the events of last year, when soldiers and their families were able to visit Long Beach for a few days of rest and relaxation.

The Waterfront Warriors accepted another check for $360 from the seniors and also thanked the "Patriotic Knitters" for the beautiful blankets they donated to each family.

Thank you everyone who attended the Long Beach Waterfront Warriors First fundraiser of the season. It was another success thanks to your participation. A great big thanks to Marco and the staff at Lola's for a fantastic job and for donating the venue/food/drinks/time and services, we cannot have these events without the huge contribution of our local business owners. Thank you also to Brian Monahan and The Big Kahuna for providing the entertainment and of course, to our volunteers who continue to come out.

This is still a work in progress, we will need many hands to help us continue to do the good work we do. Representatives from Long Beach are heading to Walter Reed Medical Center this week to assess the needs of some of our wounded soldiers and to invite them to spend some time with us in our City by the Sea. We still need housing and volunteers.

Here are just a few dates to keep in mind:

Sun., May 23 - The Kiwanis Club is honoring the Executive Board of the Long Beach Waterfront Warriors at the Fisherman's Catch restaurant in Pt. Lookout.
Sun., July 18 - Fundraiser at the Inn - Raffle tickets and Auction prizes. Raffles are already available to be sold and purchased
Sat., July 24 - Arrival of our Guests, by planes, trains and automobiles
Sun., July 25 - 5k run on the boardwalk, Welcome Parade on Beech Street, BBQ at the Catholic school yard
